Trước sự gia tăng của các thách thức toàn cầu, hệ thống quản trị toàn cầu hiện tại đang bộc lộ những hạn chế trong việc đáp ứng nhu cầu của cộng đồng quốc tế. Tiếng nói của các quốc gia trên thế giới nhằm thúc đẩy xây dựng và cải cách hệ thống quản trị toàn cầu hiện nay ngày càng lớn hơn, việc xây dựng hệ thống quản trị toàn cầu với việc cùng đàm phán, cùng xây dựng và cùng hưởng đã trở thành sự đồng thuận của tất cả các quốc gia. Kể từ khi thành lập nước Cộng hòa Nhân dân Trung Hoa, Trung Quốc đã từ chỗ đứng ngoài lề việc xây dựng các quy tắc trong lĩnh vực an ninh quốc tế, đến từng bước tham gia, và nay đã trở thành một trong những nước đưa ra các sáng kiến về quy tắc trong an ninh quốc tế. Vai trò của Trung Quốc đối với quản trị toàn cầu trong lĩnh vực an ninh được thể hiện ở các khía cạnh như: người thực thi, nhà ngoại giao và nhà kiến tạo. Bài viết sẽ phân tích vai trò của Trung Quốc đối với an ninh toàn cầu thông qua việc ủng hộ và tham gia các hoạt động gìn giữ hòa bình của thế giới và khu vực; hợp tác trong lĩnh vực ngoại giao quân sự và an ninh để quản lý hiệu quả các vấn đề an ninh xuyên quốc gia; xây dựng những quan điểm và sáng kiến mới về an ninh như: đổi mới khái niệm an ninh quốc tế, xây dựng khái niệm Cộng đồng chia sẻ tương lai.
