Register Theory and Recognizing Characteristics of Discourse

Abstract
The paper introduces the general meaning of register theory, analyses the changes for characteristics of discourse originated from the changes of field, mode, and tenor, and indicates the role of mechanism in this concept for recognizing and analyzing genres originated from the internal and external interaction of discourse.
