EVALUATION OF TEACHING AND LEARNING FRENCH AT FOREIGN TRADE UNIVERSITY FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF THE ACTION-ORIENTED APPROACH
Main Article Content
Abstract
The action-oriented approach in foreign language teaching involves integrating instruction with real-world activities, requiring learners to mobilize their available knowledge, skills, and strategies to accomplish academic tasks that are also practical tasks. In order to assess the current state of French language teaching and learning at Foreign Trade University (FTU), from the perspective of the action-oriented approach - an innovative and effective approach to foreign language teaching in the new context, we conduct a survey among students and teachers in French at FTU. According to the research findings, in general, the teaching and learning French at the university does not yet or only minimally adheres to the pedagogical principles of the action-oriented approach. This is evident in aspects such as the curriculum, training content, teaching methods, as well as the roles of teachers and learners. Therefore, innovations and adjustments in the teaching process are necessary to effectively incorporate the action-oriented approach into teaching and learning French at FTU, thereby enhance the institution's training quality.
