Abstract

This research project aims to evaluate the Training Program of English Language Teaching Methodology for Junior High School Teachers to identify the level of satisfaction among the stakeholders, including the participants (teacher trainers), the beneficiaries (teacher trainees, and administrative officers of provincial departments of Education and Training), and to see if there should be additional changes to improve the quality of Training Program in the future. The study used the social survey method with 3 questionnaires, which included close-ended 5 point Likert scale questions and open-ended questions and were delivered to 3003 teachers of English (teacher trainees), 180 university teachers (teacher trainers), and 115 administrative officers of provincial departments of Education and Training in the country. The raw data collected were processed and coded in accordance with the research process in social sciences. The descriptive result shows that the item mean scores of all the questionnaires and their categories/domains are above 3.0, some scores are above 4.0. This confirms the efficiency of the Training Program, which helps improve the quality of English teaching in primary and junior high schools as well as confirm the correctness of the implementation of the National Foreign Languages 2020 Project. However, T-Test and ANOVA analyses show that the scores between groups of different objects are not completely identical; a small number of participants still reveal their dissatisfaction with the Training Program, and some others want certain changes to the Training Program.
