To clarify the socio-political words in the New Culture movement, the article examines the socio-political words in two texts of Hu Shi named Guī guó zágǎn (lit. Feelings upon return to hometown - 4.328 words) and Wénxué gǎiliáng chúyì (lit. On Literary Reform - 6.237 words). The research of socio-political words in modern Chinese literature contributes to clarifying the linguistic features of this period in China such as the appearance of a large number of new words, new concepts, and lexical semantic expansion. Moreover, the survey of socio-political words in modern China is valuable in the study and teaching of languages in general and Chinese in particular. ER -
